Looking Ahead: Blanco, Innovation, and the KBB Futures - Movers & Shakers podcast

In the latest episode of Movers & Shakers, the Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom, and merchant industries podcast by Simon Acres, we had the pleasure of speaking with Neil Jones, Managing Director of Blanco West Europe.

With Blanco celebrating its 100th anniversary, the conversation looked back on the company’s impressive heritage and forward to its plans for innovation, sustainability, and retailer support in a changing market.

Blanco’s Heritage and Evolution

Q: Blanco is celebrating 100 years this year — what makes this milestone so special?
Neil Jones: “Blanco started as a small German family business and has grown into a global brand. What makes this anniversary meaningful is that, even after a century, we still operate with the same values — craftsmanship, precision, and long-term relationships. We’ve evolved from manufacturing sinks to creating a complete, integrated experience around the kitchen water place.”

The Kitchen Water Place Concept

Q: You mention the ‘kitchen water place’ — can you explain what that means?
Neil: “It’s about rethinking the sink area as a single, cohesive system. We don’t just supply sinks and taps anymore — we create integrated solutions that combine functionality, design, and innovation. That includes sinks, taps, drink systems, and accessories that work together beautifully.”

Supporting Retailers and Showrooms

Q: How is Blanco supporting its retail partners today?
Neil: “Retailers are at the heart of our business. We’ve developed showroom concepts, training, and digital tools to help partners present Blanco products effectively. Whether it’s physical displays or virtual platforms, we want to make it easy for retailers to show customers what’s possible.”

Innovation and Market Challenges

Q: What are the main challenges and opportunities you see in the market right now?
Neil: “The industry is evolving quickly — from consumer expectations around sustainability to the rise of digital engagement. The opportunity is in creating solutions that save time, reduce waste, and elevate the kitchen experience. Innovation is key — our modular water systems and drink systems are examples of how we’re leading that change.”

Training and the Next Generation

Q: Education seems to be an important focus for Blanco. Can you tell us more?
Neil: “Absolutely. Knowledge and training are vital. We’re investing heavily in digital learning platforms and apprenticeship programs to ensure that both our team and our retail partners can grow with the brand. The goal is to pass on craftsmanship and understanding to the next generation.”

Blanco and KBB Futures

We’re proud to share that Blanco is a sponsor of the upcoming KBB Futures event in London on 4th December — an initiative supporting innovation and new talent across the industry. It’s another way Blanco is demonstrating its commitment to the future of kitchen design and craftsmanship.

Looking Ahead

Blanco’s journey from a family-run business to an international leader shows that longevity and innovation can go hand in hand. With Neil Jones at the helm of Blanco West Europe, the company continues to set new standards in design, sustainability, and customer support — ensuring that the next 100 years will be as groundbreaking as the first.
