Simon Acres takes KBB careers talk into local school
KBB, merchant and construction services provider, Simon Acres Group (SAGL) visited a local secondary school to present a careers workshop to a group of 15-16 year olds. The workshop was part of a World of Work event run by Manor School to introduce pupils to different career options.
Around 50 students attended the presentation which covered the types of job roles available in the KBB and merchant sector, as well as looking at training and career paths, routes to entry, and further education.
Simon Acres Group Sales Director Jordan Burns said, ”We were delighted to have the opportunity to talk direct with young people about the fantastic opportunities our industry offers.
“As well as the presentation, we held a number of one to one sessions with pupils, offering advice on CV writing as well as sign posting them to apprenticeship providers, and how to find out more about careers in our industry.
“It was an extremely worthwhile day, and a great way for us to take steps to tackle the severe skills gap we face. There is a huge knowledge gap amongst young people that we all must take responsibility to address.
“The school is committed to developing pupils career awareness, and ensuring they understand the links between education, work and the role of life long learning. We are delighted to have been invited to continue to present at these events twice a year.”
