The Jump on Board concert which took place on 24 February in Northamptonshire was a great success, with more than 200 people attending. The concert brought together three musical groups, Northamptonshire Junior Wind Orchestra (NMPAT), Musical Butterflies and Year 1 and Year 2 students from Grendon C of E School, following a day of workshops based on the book ‘The Train Ride’ by June Crebbin.
The concert was organised by final year music student, Harriet Brown, who is studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and supported, with a full film media package, by Simon Acres Group.
Harriet said, “It was such a pleasure working with these different groups and introducing how important music can be to special needs students. This concert will form part of my final year project but I hope that it will lead to more opportunities to bring together special needs children and music.
“The funds raised will be used to finance the purchase of musical instruments so that more workshops can take place without the need to borrow so many instruments.”
Simon Acres, principal director at Simon Acres Group said, “It was a pleasure to support such a worthwhile initiative and we are delighted it was such a great success for both the children of all abilities that took part and the audience.”
