Salary: Basic + Excellent Bonus + Company Car, Monday - Friday

Area Business Development Executive

A fantastic opportunity is available for a motivated and results-focused sales professional to join a successful organisation operating within the home improvement and trade supply market.

This is a field-based position responsible for expanding business across a designated geographical area through new customer acquisition and account development. Covering the East Midlands to Yorkshire region, you will work independently while maintaining close collaboration with your branch and support teams to deliver sustainable commercial growth and exceptional customer service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new customers through proactive prospecting and relationship building.
  • Increase revenue from existing accounts by encouraging repeat business and identifying additional sales opportunities.
  • Build trusted partnerships with tradespeople, contractors, and other commercial customers within your territory.
  • Present the company's product range and services, demonstrating the benefits of working in partnership with the business.
  • Liaise with branch-based colleagues to coordinate customer activity and maximise sales opportunities.
  • Respond to customer queries efficiently, ensuring a high standard of service from enquiry through to resolution.
  • Keep CRM records and sales activity up to date, maintaining an accurate pipeline of business opportunities.
  • Share market intelligence and customer feedback to support wider business objectives.
  • Follow all company policies relating to health, safety, and compliance.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  • Experience in an external sales, account management, or business development position.
  • A history of generating new business while successfully managing and growing customer accounts.
  • Previous exposure to the building materials, merchanting, construction, or home improvement sectors would be beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to establish long-term customer relationships.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities, capable of managing a varied territory with minimal supervision.
  • A driven, resilient, and self-starting approach to achieving commercial objectives.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
