Jordan Burns, a member of the talent acquisition team at Simon Acres group (SAGL), has been named a young freeman of the Furniture Makers’ Company (FMC).
Due to current COVID restrictions, he became one of the first young freeman to be admitted via a virtual ceremony.
Sponsored by FMC liveryman Simon Acres, Jordan Burns was welcomed into the organisation by Master David Woodward.
Simon Acres said: “I am delighted that Jordan has become part of the FMC and will be supporting them in their education activities.”
Burns will act as an ambassador for the FMC. He will support the senior members when working with young people in education to inspire creativity. This will help to nurture talent and connect the next generation of designers and makers with influencers from the sector.
Jordan Burns said: “I am looking forward to playing an active role and promoting the path of apprenticeships in the furniture industry to young people.
“I am passionate about the value of learning in this way, having started my own career as an apprentice.”
FMC master David Woodward added: “It is a pleasure to welcome Jordan as a young freeman.
“I am delighted he’s indicated his wish to immerse himself in supporting our work and give back to the industry.”
Membership of the FMC is open to individuals involved in the furniture industry, corporate companies and young furniture makers.
